When German Paratroopers Executed Greek Villagers In Crete....

It was June 1941. Crete had fallen two days ago to the Germans. But the Greeks had not gone down without a good fight. This irked the Germans. Also found in a village home was a jacket of a paratrooper with a bullet hole.
The Germans rounded up men aged between 18 and 50 from the village and shot them. The Germans were led by a  lieutenant called Trebes. The whole operation was captured on film by Franz-Peter Weixler, then serving as a war propaganda correspondent (kriegsberichter) for the Wehrmacht.
